Richard Pereira, 36, charged in Brampton homicide

A Brampton man has been charged with second-degree murder after police found a woman deceased at a home on Nanwood Drive overnight.

At about 12:30 a.m., police were called to a home on Nanwood Drive, in the Main Street South and Clarence Street area.

Police say the victim's body had obvious signs of trauma. There is no word yet on the cause of the woman's death.

No details have been released on the identity of the victim so far.

Police removed the victim's body from the home on Sunday afternoon.

Richard Pereira, 36, has been charged with second-degree murder. The accused appeared in court on Sunday and will be back in court in the coming week.

Investigators have been canvassing neighbours in a bid to identify the victim.
