Brazilian cafe reopens at new downtown spot in Sacramento with more seating, expanded menu
Tupi Coffee has reopened its doors at a new location in downtown Sacramento.
The Brazilian cafe announced on social media on Saturday that it’s open for customers at its new digs, 1901 Eighth St.
The coffee shop is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
Tupi moved twice before settling into the former location of Insight Coffee Roasters. The business opened seven years ago on Arden Way in Sacramento, closing at that location in 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic challenges.
Tupi reopened in August 2021 at 701 19th St. in midtown Sacramento.
Originally from Brazil, coffeehouse owner Eduardo Faustino moved to the United States in 2016. He started Tupi a year later, he told The Sacramento Bee via email in July.
Moving to downtown allows for more seating and an expanded menu, Faustino said, with the addition of wine, beer, Brazilian tapas and empanadas.
In addition to coffee, tea, acai bowls and sandwiches, the cafe serves Brazilian baked goods such as cheese bread, Brazilian dumplings known as rissoles and coxinha, a pastry made with tapioca flour, mashed potatoes and chicken.
