The Bride Wore 3 Amazing Dresses for the a Hindu Fusion Wedding

That was the formula for Jessica and Suchil’s Hindu fusion wedding set in Calistoga, California.

3 dresses. 2 ceremonies. 1 perfect day. That was the formula for Jessica and Suchil’s Hindu fusion wedding set in Calistoga, California. And thanks to a top-notch crew of vendors, including IQ Videography, Bella Bridal Napa Valley, Found Vintage Rentals, La Tavola and Jenny Yoo the result was multicultural wedding perfection. A heartfelt thanks to IQ Videography + Susie and Will for capturing each moment you surely don't want to miss.

Jessica and Suchil’s wedding at Solage, Calistoga was a celebration and a coming together of two families, two cultures, and two people, in California’s Napa Valley. Napa has also featured prominently in the lives of both Jessica and Suchil. Both runners, foodies and wine lovers, they frequently make trips to Napa and Sonoma. The first trip they took together was to Napa, where they stayed at Solage, so the opportunity to be married at this venue was particularly meaningful.

Festivities started at 4 PM on June 3rd, 2017 with a Baraat, or King’s Parade. The bride and groom entered on horseback, courtesy of Bay Area Carriage, accompanied by the Baraat Band and their bridal party. It is not typical that both bride and groom enter this way; usually, the Baraat is for the groom and his family, but the couple has always skirted the rules (a little) and wanted to be more inclusive. Jessica also insisted that she get to be a part of the Baraat because they are so much fun.The bride and groom decided to conduct both the Hindu and western ceremonies in one day, which required a tremendous amount of work, creativity, and planning.

Kristen Miller and the So Eventful team helped bring this modern Hindu-western vision to life. Jessica wanted the florals to reflect both the colorful tradition of Hindu weddings, but also the more neutral colors that would complement the natural setting and the Napa Valley. Angella Garret Floral design, in partnership with Jessica and Kristen Miller, helped the bride's complicated vision come to life. She hung a flower curtain from the Mandap which was later repurposed inside the reception space.

The Hindu ceremony directly followed the Baraat and was officiated in Sanskrit by Dharmasetu das. During the Hindu ceremony, the bride wore Sabyasachi bridal couture from Kolkata. The groom wore a sherwani from Telon, in Mumbai. The western ceremony was officiated by Jessica’s uncle, Derek Anderson. The bride wore Zuhair Murad, and the groom wore a custom dinner jacket by John Urban. The bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo gowns. The ceremony was accompanied by music from Synchronicity Strings, and the couple recessed with “No Diggity”, which was played on strings. The bride changed into a Mira Zwillinger gown for the reception.

One of the most memorable parts of the night was when Suchil surprised Jessica with her favorite treat — ice cream from Noble Folk in Healdsburg, CA. After the speeches and the first dances, DJ Dart took over the tables and spun classic hits on vinyl until the early morning.
