British Airways flight to Budapest forced to return to Heathrow

A British Airways flight to Budapest has been forced to return to Heathrow Airport shortly after departure due to a suspected technical issue.

The BA866 flight departed at 8am on Wednesday and turned around over Kent before heading back to Heathrow.

FlightRadar24 shows the plane arrived back at the airport at around 9am. Several flight monitor sites said the flight had declared an emergency.

A British Airways spokesperson told the Standard the flight had landed safely back at Heathrow.

They said: “Our aircraft returned to London Heathrow as a precaution because of a suspected minor technical issue.

“We’re sorry to our customers for the disruption to their journeys and our teams are working to get them on their way again as quickly as possible.”
