Saskatoon & Area
If you've never tried slam poetry in Saskatoon before, but want to... then this weekend is all about you.
Tonight It's Poetry is a celebration of the spoken art form that happens weekly at it's new venue The Bassment.
This week features the man who helped cultivate slam poetry in Winnipeg, Aaron Simm.
He's a performance artist, poet and hip hop musician and has been called really witty by his peers.
The bottom line is his poetry is REALLY accessible.
The opening and closing acts will be a poetry slam competition.
Tickets are only five bucks which makes this evening of entertainment a steal.
It's all happening Sunday at the Bassment in Saskatoon.
Princess vs. Pirate
Ahoy matey! Time to set sail into the Wide Open.
The Princess & Pirate Fancy Dress Party is back in Saskatoon.
This is a fundraiser for Wide Open Theatre Children's Theatre.
The key with this party old and young, you dress for it.
Eye patch, crown, whatever you need to do to perfect your princess or pirate costume.
There will be face painting, fortune telling, a tea party with the Mad Hatter and even a fishing pond.
It's fun for the whole family. The party happens Saturday at the Henk Ruys Soccer Centre.
From Garden To Stage
He helped define a generation of rock in Soundgarden, and Chris Cornell is still carving a niche out as a solo act.
Cornell has put out his first new studio album in over 16 years.
This tour is focusing on him as a solo musician, it's stripped down and personal.
Reviews from out West have said the typically dark, brooding stage presence has been replaced by Cornell's stories from the road.
You can see it on stage Sunday night at TCU Place.
Regina & Area
Just a short drive outside Regina, something wicked lurks in a community hall.
Last Mountain Theatre Company is holding its semi-annual Haunted House in Strasbourg.
This is an event not for the faint of heart as the theatre troupe has turned the hall upside down.
Tight rope walkers, carnival rejects and walls that move and... maybe grab you.
Take the tour, if you dare! Organizers say kids 12 and up are welcome.
The house is open Friday and Saturday and I'm told, it's worth the drive.

Silly & Script-less
It's a collaboration of minds with no limits.
Master improvisersJaydenPfeifer and Ryan Beil are joining forces to do, well, pretty much whatever they want.
The duo call themselves Skin & Lungs and they've performed at festivals across North America.
The evening is a one-act play completely on the fly.
The show runs Friday and Saturday at the Artesian on 13th.
Who says the season for music festivals is over?
There's a mini-fest happening this weekend in the Queen City.
Friday night kicks off with Kevin Roy and Kristen Berkel.
Then Saturday features The Still House Poets (a favourite of mine) and Danny Goertz.
And Sunday the weekend rounds out with Glenn Sutter and Lyn McGinnis.
It's a chance to check out homegrown talent all on one stage and it's happening at the Creative City Centre.
