There are reports that convicted serial killer Bruce McArthur was allegedly attacked in prison so severely he was taken to hospital.

A police source told Global News that the alleged incident happened on the night of Thursday, April 11, at the Millhaven Institution, a maximum security facility about two and half hours east of Toronto.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have yet to comment but Global reports they were investigating the assault.

The Correctional Service of Canada told Vice News that an inmate was sent to hospital “as a precautionary measure following an altercation.” However, they wouldn’t confirm the inmate’s identity due to privacy reasons. The CSC also didn’t comment on whether the inmate had been released from hospital.

The former landscaper is serving a life sentence, after he pleaded guilty in February to eight counts of first-degree murder. He was charged with killing eight men with ties to Toronto’s gay community, between 2010 and 2017.
