Bruce Springsteen invites 88-year-old Toronto fan on stage to dance during concert

During Bruce Springsteen’s world tour, one 88-year-old Toronto fan got her birthday wish when the rock icon invited her on stag to dance.

Springsteen spotted a homemade sign among the crowded venue at the Air Canada Centre on Tuesday night, asking the musician for a “birthday dance,” CTV News reports.

What happened next became a surreal moment for the grandmother.

During the band’s encore performance of “Dancing in the Dark”, Evelyn Raftery got pulled from the front row onto the stage for a slow dance with Springsteen.

“It was a shock, a terrible shock,” Raftery told Global News. “So my daughter helped me up [on stage] and somebody else, then Bruce pulled me the rest of the way.”

To the cheers of the crowd and the sounds of his E Street Band, Springsteen danced with Raftery, as the two chatted away.

“He was amazed that somebody of my age was … at the concert,” she told CTV News.

After a few twirls, Springsteen helped Raftery off the stage.

“I hope I remember it for a very long time,” Raftery told CTV News after her dance.
