New Brunswick reports 15 new infections and one more COVID-related death

FREDERICTON — Health officials are reporting that the 21st person to die in New Brunswick from COVID-19 is a resident in their 80s of the Manoir Belle Vue long-term care home in Edmundston.

The province is also reporting 15 new infections today, including ten in the Edmundston region, six of which are tied to an outbreak at the city's Villa des Jardins long-term care facility.

Officials say there are two new cases in the Moncton region and three cases in the Saint John area.

They say they have also identified a fourth case in the province of the U.K. variant.

New Brunswick says it has 183 active reported infections and seven patients in hospital with the disease, including two people in intensive care.

Premier Blaine Higgs issued a statement today expressing his condolences to the family of the province's latest COVID-19 victim.
