New Brunswick reports 43rd COVID-19-related death, eight new cases

FREDERICTON — New Brunswick health officials say a Bathurst, N.B., resident over the age of 90 is the 43rd person to die of COVID-19 in the province.

Health Minister Dorothy Shephard expressed her condolences to the person's family today in a statement.

Officials are also reporting eight new cases of COVID-19 today, six of which were identified in the Fredericton area, one in the Saint John region and one in the Edmundston area.

They say a case was confirmed Tuesday tied to the Fredericton Christian Academy.

The school has been closed for the rest of the week to allow for contact tracing.

New Brunswick has 116 active reported cases of COVID-19 and there are 11 people in hospital with the disease, including three in intensive care.
