FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting five new cases of COVID-19 today.

They say the Fredericton and Edmundston health zones each have two new cases and the Moncton region has one new infection.

All five new cases are linked to previously reported infections.

Officials say students and staff at Ecole Notre-Dame in Edmundston were asked to stay home today while the school is cleaned and contact tracing is conducted.

The province says a case identified in the Edmundston region involves a presumptive mutation of the novel coronavirus and a sample was sent to the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg for confirmation.

New Brunswick has 41 active reported cases of COVID-19.
