New Brunswick weather: Blowing snow advisory in south

Parts of New Brunswick are bracing for another dump of snow with high winds on Monday as a blowing snow advisory has been issued for the southeast of the province and along the Fundy shore.

"An intensifying storm centre that developed and intensified rapidly off the Carolinas yesterday afternoon is now moving northeast towards the Maritimes," said CBC meteorologist Peter Coade.

The storm's centre will take a turn to the east and pass to the south of Nova Scotia over the next 24 hours on its way toward Newfoundland.

"This is a very powerful storm and, as well as bringing about blizzard conditions throughout Nova Scotia and some more localized conditions in southeastern New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island due to its wind and snow, it will likely cause some damage along some of our shorelines," said Coade.

The storm will also affect aviation and ferry traffic as well as road travel starting later today and continuing overnight into the morning Tuesday.

Coade said the rest of the week will remain slightly unsettled with some sun, some cloud and scattered flurries with temperatures near the norm before taking a plunge on the weekend.
