New Brunswick weather: Sunny weekend is in the forecast

The first days of March will be sunny ones with any cloud left behind on Friday morning are expected to clear later in the day, says CBC meteorologist Peter Coade,

"It will be a ridge of pressure stretched out across the region through the weekend that will ensure a sunny end of February and a sunny start to March," he said.

Northern New Brunswick will be sunny and cold on Friday with winds and a high of –10 C.

For the Fredericton region, it will be mainly sunny and cold on Friday. The high temperature will be –10 C and it will feel like –18 with the wind.

For southern New Brunswick, Friday will be mainly sunny and cold with winds from the west at 15 to 20 km/h and a high –8 C. It will feel like –16 with the wind.

Coade says there are signs of a weak system moving through on Monday but any snowfall associated with it would be light.

"There are signs of a more significant disturbance moving in for Wednesday — sounds like we might be going back to the 'Wicked Wednesdays' routine," he said.

Temperatures will continue on the cold side of seasonal temperatures until that more significant disturbance moves in on Wednesday. Coade said that system will raise afternoon temperatures above the melting point in much of the area.
