BT Sport to offer Premier League viewers simulated crowd noise and video calls with friends
BT Sport will offer viewers new features including simulated crowd noise and the ability to watch action alongside video-calls with friends when the Premier League returns to our screens.
English top-flight football will get back under way on 17 June, and as one of four chosen broadcasters including BBC, Amazon Prime Video and Sky Sports, BT Sport will show two of the opening weekend’s games live: Watford vs Leicester and Brighton vs Arsenal, both on Saturday 20 June.
Using the red button, viewers will be able to turn on a “dynamic noise feature” during each match which will simulate the sound of supporters filling grounds which will be empty, as the league’s final 92 games are played behind closed doors during the coronavirus pandemic.
On the BT Sport app, viewers will also have the option to split their screen so that they can video-call family or friends watching the game too, via a feature called “watch together”.
The head of BT Sport, Simon Green, said: “We are pleased that the Premier League resumption will give viewers a packed schedule of live football in June as the sport makes its return. With every fixture from the Bundesliga, twenty Premier League games and the return of the FA Cup, BT Sport viewers will be in for a football packed summer. We are looking forward to broadcasting live domestic football again and bringing some new innovations to our customers to give them the best viewing experience possible.”

How many games will BT show?
Of the 92 remaining Premier League games, BT has the rights to 20. That’s 12 more than they were due to show before the league was suspended. While the other broadcasters will all show a number of games for free, BT is not following suit as things stand.
The remaining BT Sport fixtures are yet to be released.
