BTS Announces "Carpool Karaoke" Date, Fans Make Memes

"Why is Suga in the trunk."

BTS will officially be getting their very own "Carpool Karaoke" segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden — and ARMYs’ reactions to the news are hilarious.

On February 17, The Late Late Show announced that, following the debut performance of “Black Swan” on the show, the highly-anticipated segment with the septet will air on February 25, just one day after their upcoming appearance and performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The announcement post, which was posted to both the show’s Twitter and Instagram, was simple enough. It featured a pic of James and the boys in the car along with the hashtag #BTSCarpoolFEB25 and nothing else — but that was enough to get ARMYs’ jokes started.

Though the general note among fans was pure excitement, some ARMYs couldn’t help but notice some of the members looked, mmm, rather squished in the backseat. And by some, we mean Suga, whose real name is Min Yoongi. “Yoongi *ss in the trunk,” someone pointed out after seeing the teaser image. “I know he’s tiny and all but why is Suga in the trunk,” someone else added. Hey, eight people in one car is quite the feat.

But, apart from Yoongi-related questions and photoshop concerns, ARMYs also brought out their A-game to celebrate the occasion with some memes that anticipated James’s reactions to bops like “Tear” and also jokingly wondered just how well the host had brushed up on his Korean in preparation.

Others were just excited by the prospect of James blasting out some fan chants while behind the wheel or having Jimin reenact his “hello world!” moments from Bon Voyage’s fourth season. But, since the segment will mix RM and driving, others couldn’t help but make some road-related Namjoon memes (though one video also swaps in Jungkook), given that he’s the only member without a driver’s license. Honestly, we’re here for James giving him some parallel parking lessons.

All jokes aside, by the time BTS’s "Carpool Karaoke" finally airs, Map of the Soul: 7 will have been out for a few days, so we can only hope some of the new tracks will be part of the lineup!
