Budget 2024: Give your input as Brock gears up for financial planning

The Township of Brock has opened a public survey for residents to contribute their thoughts about the programs, services and infrastructure investments that matter the most to them.

Brock relies on property tax dollars to fund the services, facilities, programs, and infrastructure that contribute to residents' quality of life.

The survey is aimed at bringing out opinions on existing services, assessing preferences for increasing or decreasing specific services, and measuring interest in introducing new ones.

There are 10 survey questions that will help inform township staff and council on the budget priorities that are important to residents and will also be considered as part of the 2024 budget development.

Scheduled to kick off on Monday, Jan. 29, the budget process aims to engage residents through various channels, offering them an opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns.

An hour-long Budget Kickoff Presentation is set to highlight the key areas of focus within the proposed 2024 budget, including a proposed tax increase.

Following the initial presentation, the township has slated Budget Deliberation Days on Feb. 5 and 8. During these sessions, department heads will present their respective operating, capital, new initiatives, and staffing requests, allowing for a comprehensive review of proposed allocations.

Afterwards, a Budget Open House is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. Although not an official council meeting, the event will serve as a platform for community members to interact, provide feedback and gain insights into the budgetary decisions shaping their township's future.

Finally, the 2024 Budget approval is expected on Monday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.

As a member of the community, the township insists that residents stay informed about the budget and share their input on what matters and what they feel are budget priorities.

Residents can actively participate in shaping the budget by emailing their questions to budget@brock.ca or by contributing to the survey here.
