Building activity stalled as Strathroy servicing agreement stuck

The deal still has not been done for a servicing agreement between Adelaide Metcalfe and Strathroy, an essential deal for future development on Centre Road.

Adelaide Metcalfe had been discussing the issue repeatedly in-camera at council meetings, meaning no details of where those negotiations are public. It was notable, though, that the May 2 meeting saw council amend the agenda to read, “that council adjourn to closed session at 7:22 pm pursuant to Section 239(2) of the Municipal Act 2001, as amended, to discuss the following matters; Litigation or potential litigation including matters before administrative tribunals affecting the municipality of local board, and that’s the Servicing agreement between Adelaide Metcalfe and Strathroy-Caradoc.”

The other matter was moving to dispose of Township-owned land by Pannell Lane on the border with Strathroy.

Council was also given a public update on building activity in the Township. With no sewer or water connections for new Centre Road construction, construction permits for the first quarter of 2022 were limited to auxiliary buildings, one single-family dwelling worth $980,000, and eight agricultural buildings valued at $2.68 million.
