Burger King Japan is selling an ‘extreme’ burger with a meat patty bun
Burger King never ceases to amaze us.
In 2020 alone, the chain has introduced a French fry burger, a chocolate-covered Whopper and made its case for a Michelin star. Now, the chain is dividing the internet with a new, “extreme” menu item.
Called the “Extreme Super One Pound Beef Burger,” the order is only available at Burger King’s Japanese locations. Still, the item has gotten attention from around the world for some obvious reasons.
For one, the burger is made almost entirely of meat. It has no bun and features more than a pound of beef. For reference, that’s about four times more meat than a regular Whopper.
The rest of the burger is pretty traditional, with cheese, onions, pickles and all the other usual toppings sitting wedged between four massive patties.
According to Hypebeast, the item is available for a limited time only — with sales ending on Dec. 3. Some customers have been rushing to try it.

Others have been far more critical. Twitter users responded to the new item with plenty of confusion, calling the burger “gross” or “upsetting.”
“Why tho?” one user asked.
“Is Burger King Japan OK?” another wrote.
“[That’s] enough for a family of four,” another claimed.
“A heart attack to go,” another user added.
Twitter users were also taken aback by the burger’s price, which, according to Business Insider, is three times more expensive than a Whopper. Burger King Japan customers can buy the “extreme” sandwich for 1400 yen, which is approximately $13.50 in USD.
