OC Transpo is investigating after a bus with six passengers didn't stop until it had passed the Fallowfield Road rail crossing arm shortly before a train passed by.
The incident happened Thursday at 1:30 p.m. as a bus approached the Fallowfield Rail crossing, according to a memo sent to city councillors by OC Transpo head John Manconi.
The traffic light turned amber and the bus driver braked but the bus didn't come to a stop until it was beyond the painted stop bar "in the area between the rail crossing arm and the rail track," Manconi wrote.
A Via Rail train crossed shortly thereafter "without incident," Manconi wrote.
OC Transpo has reported the incident to Transport Canada and Via Rail Canada.
OC Transpo is investigating the cause of the incident.
