Busy downtown Columbus street temporarily will close for this major construction project

On Nov. 11 and 12, 2024, the section of First Avenue between Ninth Street and 10th Street in Columbus will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Part of a busy downtown street in Columbus will be closed to vehicles next week.

On Nov. 11 and 12, the section of First Avenue between Ninth Street and 10th Street in Columbus will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, the Columbus Consolidated Government announced Monday.

Outside of these hours, southbound traffic may use this section of First Avenue. The northbound lanes will remain closed as part of the construction project building the Columbus Judicial Center.

This new temporary closure will allow a tower crane to be erected at the construction site. Detour signs will direct drivers along Ninth Street, Broadway, 10th Street, and Second Avenue, CCG’s news release says.
