Céline Dion buys everyone lunch at famous Montreal deli during surprise visit

It wasn’t your typical day at the deli for patrons of Montreal’s famous Schwartz’s restaurant who were treated to a surprise appearance from singer Céline Dion.

The 48-year-old French Canadian superstar stopped by the historic delicatessen, known for its signature take on the Montreal-style smoked meat sandwich, on Tuesday afternoon and was soon mobbed by fans.

Not only did Dion pose for pictures and sign autographs with patrons, but she was also kind enough to buy lunch for everyone in attendance as well. Dion, who happens to be one of the part owners of Schwartz’s, also, used the occasion to do some good in the Montreal community as well.

Several meals were donated to local charities in tribute to the memory of Dion’s late husband, René Angélil, who passed away from cancer in January of this year.

Dion is currently touring Quebec in support of her upcoming French language album, ‘Encore un soir’ set to release this Friday.

The tour has had previous stops in Belgium and France earlier this summer before making it’s way back to North America.

Dion is currently mid-way through a five show stop in Quebec City, after performing a set of 10 concerts in Montreal, and is set to finally finish her 2016 summer tour with two shows in Trois-Rivières at the end of August.
