CAA Manitoba offers free driving assessments to seniors
CAA Manitoba held their first CarFit event Sunday afternoon keep older drivers behind the wheel and keep them safe.
The three-hour event was held in St. Vital with free assessments for mature drivers and information on how to adapt their vehicles to compensate for changes in technology and changes that happen with aging.
"These drivers are coming here today haven't had a touch point or haven't had been told how to adjust their seats, how to adjust their mirrors – all those kinds of things," said CAA Manitoba spokesperson Angele Young. "[They] haven't been educated on that since they got their drivers' licenses and that could be 40 or 50 years ago."
Judy Hill stopped by Sunday afternoon and said she felt more confident after she left.
"[It's] the first time I've ever done anything like this, and I got my license in the '50s, so I've had it awhile," said Hill.
