Cache of guns stolen during break in near Mattawa

Three semi-automatic handguns and four bolt-action rifles have not been recovered despite OPP charging a suspect in a Calvin Township break-in on New Year's Eve or day.

The North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing the investigation of a break and enter to a seasonal residence on Peddlers Drive.

The break and enter is believed to have occurred between December 31, 2020 and January 1, 2021, when the owner returned to find mischief to his property and a gun safe containing firearms removed from the residence.

The investigation is continuing, and the stolen firearms and safe have not been recovered.
