Cal Fire officials arrest woman on suspicion of starting 3 fires in El Dorado County

Cal Fire law enforcement and El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 41-year-old Waterford woman on suspicion of starting three fires on Thursday.

The fires were set in the area of Fort Jim Road and Newtown Road in Placerville, according to Cal Fire’s Amador-El Dorado unit.

“Each fire was quickly extinguished within 20 minutes of ignition, with the burn area limited to less than a quarter acre,” according to Cal Fire.

Cal Fire investigators determined that the three fires were intentionally set and later arrested the woman in connection with them. El Dorado County Jail records show the woman still in custody on Saturday morning.

From Jan. 1 through July 31, Cal Fire law enforcement have made 78 arson arrests in the state, according to a statement from the agency.
