Calgary air quality advisory lifted after smoke clears

Alberta Health Services officially lifted the air quality advisory for Calgary today after a couple days of smoke-free skies.

Wildfires in the U.S. and B.C. had left a haze over many areas in southern Alberta last week.

"Air monitoring has shown that the Calgary zone is no longer being impacted by smoke from the fires burning in the northwestern areas of the United States at this time," said officials in a release.

"All Albertans are reminded that air quality can and will vary with weather conditions and prevailing winds."

Air quality is updated regularly on the Alberta Environment and Parks website.

The fire ban issued for Calgary last week remains in effect.
