Calgary dog missing 3 days found 70 km away on Cochrane acreage

A dog that was missing from its northeast Calgary home for three days has been found safe but exhausted at an acreage near Cochrane more than 70 kilometres away.

"Willy is a very timid dog who suffers from epilepsy, so it was even scarier thinking he may be having seizures," said the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) in a release.

Staff and volunteers searched door-to-door, put up posters and created a Facebook page to try to find the AARCS foster dog.

He was picked up on Tuesday night after a family called AARCS to say they had found a very tuckered out dog resting in one of their horse stalls.

"It is always really scary when animals go missing from their home," said AARCS communications and events manager Lindsay Black.

"This goes to show you to never give up hope and that miracles truly do happen! Who would've thought that Willy would have travelled so far in such little time."

AARCS thanked everyone who helped and shared their posts in the search for Willy.
