The Calgary Fire Department responded to a house explosion in the northeast community of Bridgeland on Tuesday.
The incident took place around 9:40 a.m. at a house at the corner of 7A Street and First Avenue N.E.
Six people were in the building at the time of the explosion, but all escaped without injury, the fire department said in a release.
The house had significant structural damage. According to fire department spokesperson Carol Henke, the windows were blown out and walls collapsed.
Fire crews smelled natural gas in the immediate area and shut off the gas line.
No other buildings have been evacuated at this time and a fire investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause of the explosion.
