Calgary Flames playoff tickets: what you need to know

After Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames fans will have another chance to see the two teams' fierce rivalry play out on home ice when their first round NHL Stanley Cup playoff series moves back to the Scotiabank Saddledome for Game 6.

To give fans an even chance at getting tickets, the Calgary Flames are making them available through an online registry.

Vice-president of sales Rollie Cyr says over 60,000 fans signed up for a chance to get a special code to buy about 1,900 to 2,000 tickets that will be up for grabs for Saturday's game.

Price categories range from $85 to $540.

"It's still the most reasonable playoff pricing available," said Cyr.

Remaining tickets go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster at noon on Friday.

Cyr is also encouraging fans to keep checking Ticketmaster on game day, because tickets being held for the league and players that go unclaimed will be released to the public around 1 p.m.

There are still plenty of tickets available through third party sellers such as Stubhub and Kijiji, though there's no guarantee those tickets are authentic.

Calgary police are warning the public to be on guard for playoff ticket scams, and at least one Flames fan who got burned is adding his own alert.

There are only four places to buy tickets that are verified as authentic: Ticketmaster, NHL Ticket Exchange (which is controlled by Ticketmaster), Co-op and Sport Chek.

Buyers should make sure it says "verified by Ticketmaster" on their tickets, Cyr says.

"The one benefit is if you get that ticket, you're coming into the building," he said.
