Calgary man arrested for attempted abduction in Langdon

Strathmore RCMP have charged a 32-year-old man with attempted abduction after someone grabbed a woman and tried to drag her into a vehicle last month.

The incident took place on Aug. 16 in Langdon, just east of Calgary. A woman who was selling corn was approached by a man "who was insistent in his efforts to 'pick her up' despite being rebuked several times," according to an RCMP news release.

The man forced her to take a picture with him and when the woman tried to get away from the man, he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and started dragging her toward his vehicle. A bystander intervened and the man fled.

Mohamad Jeha of Calgary has been charged with attempted kidnapping and assault after an investigation that involved RCMP from Strathmore and Airdrie, as well as Calgary police.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 19.
