Good morning Calgary! It's sunny and 17 C at 8 a.m. Here's what's happening in Calgary today.

Weather

After a beautiful Canada Day evening, we'll see similar weather conditions today with sunshine and a high of 26 C in the forecast. Keep the sunscreen handy as the UV index will be at a 7, which is considered high.

On Friday we're expecting more sunshine and a high of 30 C for the first official day of the Calgary Stampede.

News headlines

Cochrane RCMP say a man has been found dead along Highway 1 between Morley and Highway 40. Police received a call around midnight about someone lying in the middle of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The RCMP major crimes unit is investigating.

Another false bomb threat has been made against a WestJet flight. WestJet Flight 722 from Vancouver to Toronto was diverted last night to Calgary after a bomb hoax — the fourth such threat in the last five days. The flight landed safely in Calgary just before 8 p.m.
