Good morning Calgary! It's sunny and 15 C right now in the city at 8 a.m. Here's what's happening in Calgary today.

Weather

It's shaping up to be a great start to the week with sunshine expected today and a high of 23 C in the forecast. Overnight, the low will drop down to 10 C.

Tomorrow, we'll see a high of 19 C with a chance of showers later on in the afternoon. There's hot, sunny weather in the long-term forecast with highs of 29 and 30 C in the forecast for next weekend.

News headlines

Calgary-based CP Rail is under investigation by the country's rail safety regulator. CBC News has learned that Transport Canada raided CP's head office in Calgary last month amid allegations the railway had violated rules put in place following the Lac-Mégantic disaster. Transport Canada believes CP ordered the crew of a train near Revelstoke, B.C. to leave 57 rail cars — some containing dangerous goods — parked without any handbrakes.

Calgary's new cycle track network officially opened to the public over the weekend. The 5.5-kilometre network was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. City officials say they have already seen a significant increase in ridership downtown.
