Weather

After a warm weekend, we should see more of the same today with sunshine in the forecast and a high of 5 C expected. Overnight, the low drops down to –5 C.

Tomorrow, we'll see sunshine and a high of 7 C.

We have multiple collisions to report in Calgary at 7:50 a.m.

- There is a collision on 17th Avenue S.W. at 12th Street.

- Also in the southwest, there's a collision on northbound Sarcee Trail approaching Bow Trail.

- In the northeast, there's a collision at the intersection of Memorial Drive at 68th Street.

- And on Deerfoot Trail, there are two collisions: one in the northbound lanes approaching 17th Avenue S.E., and another in the southbound lanes approaching Peigan Trail which is blocking the left lane.

News headlines

The United Nations climate summit is underway in Paris. Alberta Premier Rachel Notley is there, along with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and representatives from 190 countries. World leaders will be attempting to work out a universal agreement to curb the effects of climate change. More than half a million people rallied worldwide yesterday to support climate change policy, and here in Calgary about 300 people came out to the Royal Sunalta Park in Calgary's southwest to show solidarity with the activists.

The organization that manages air traffic in Canada wants to implement new procedures for planes landing at the Calgary airport. Nav Canada is planning to hold public meetings, starting this week, on what's called 'required navigation performance' procedures. It's a satellite-based system which will allow some specially-equipped planes to descend quicker and more directly for landings. The first public meeting on the new procedures will be held Wednesday night at Ambrose University College.
