News headlines

Here's what the CBC Calgary newsroom is working on this morning:

Premier-designate Rachel Notley and her new 11-member cabinet will officially be sworn in this Sunday. Notley has also announced that there will be a throne speech in mid-June and a short session to keep the government operating until a budget can be brought in this fall.

Notley also confirmed yesterday that the new NDP government plans to follow through with a campaign promise to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. The plan would make Alberta's minimum wage the highest in the country. Some business groups including the Canadian Federation of Independent Business have raised concerns about the proposed changes.
