Calgary Pride events this weekend

It's Calgary Pride's 25th anniversary and you can celebrate the silver anniversary all weekend long, if you fancy.

Here are some of this weekend's events:

Friday, Sept. 4

Origins: Calgary Pride History Panel

- 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

- Hyatt Regency Calgary, 700 Centre Street S.E.

Key figures in Calgary's political struggle for LGBTQ rights will share their stories in helping the city overcome homophobia and celebrate sexual diversity. Hosted by the Calgary Queer History Project and Pride Calgary.

4th Annual Calgary Men's Chorus Sing-a-long: The Sound of Music

- 6:15 p.m.

- Plaza Theatre, 1133 Kensington Rd. N.W.

Join the Calgary Men's Chorus for a Sound of Music sing-a-long. If you don't know all the words, don't worry, subtitles are included!

YYC Cycle Pride Ride

- 6:30 p.m. to 7:20 p.m.

- YYC Cycle Spin Studio, 1117 Kensington Rd. N.W.

Spinning class with a "tight and bright" theme. Booty shorts and crop tops encouraged. Get ready to sweat.

Homo Hop

- 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

- Loft 112, 112 - 535 Eightth Ave. S.E.

Family-friendly dance party for all ages.

Saturday, Sept. 5

Premier's Pride Brunch

- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- Hyatt Regency Hotel, 700 Centre Street S.E.

Join Premier Notley and the Calgary Sexual Health Centre for a brunch in support of Camp fYrefly.

Calgary Dyke and Trans* March

- 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

- Starts at William Aberhart Park, Second Street S.W. and 24 Avenue S.W.

An annual march the day before the Calgary Pride Parade.

Gay History Walking Tour

- 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

- CommunityWise Resource Centre

The Calgary Gay History Project's Kevin Allen leads a walk through the city centre. Learn about significant political and social events and locations that have affected LGBTQ communities, including some visits to historical watering holes.

Pure Pride 2015

- 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

- Flames Central, 219 Eighth Ave. S.W.

Electro-pop star Dev and musicians perform live.

Sunday, Sept. 6

Calgary Pride Parade

- Noon to 2 p.m.

- Ninth Avenue and 11 St. S.W. to Ninth Ave. and First Street S.E.

The big, annual street party and parade. This year's march will have more than 160 participating groups and will be led by Calgary Flames' president Brian Burke.
