New call centre opens in Bloomfield

Elie Chebli is the CEO of Inbound Outbound Solutions.

A new call centre opened Wednesday at the West Prince Business Center in Bloomfield, P.E.I., creating 70 new jobs.

The company is called Inbound Outbound Solutions, and its CEO is promising to double that number and possibly move the company head office from Montreal to Prince Edward Island.

"We do inbound calls for client service, for support servicing, and we do some outbound calls in proactive campaigns," said Elie Chebli.

The Quebec company has more than 600 employees and provides support to the telecommunication sector. They've been in the call centre business since 1991 and are taking on new clients.

The 70 employees now working at the P.E.I. call centre have been on the job since September.

There have been two previous call centres in the same location that have shut down. But Innovation Minister Alan Roche says he believes this will be a long term relationship.

"It's a big deal for any place in rural Prince Edward Island, especially the western end of the Island," said Roche. "I think the most impressive thing, and the thing that brought Inbound Outbound Solutions here was the fact that when they came to do some interviews they found they had the labour market here to fill those jobs."

The provincial government is providing wage and rental subsidies … but neither Roche or the company CEO would say how much that will amount to.

"Its the same as it is for any company," said Roche. "There is a wage subsidy there and it is based on the number of jobs and the number of people that are employed."

IO Solutions plan to eventually grow their workforce on P.E.I. to 150.
