Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 6: patch notes and download size revealed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 6 has gone live across all platforms, complete with a full set of multiplayer maps, two operators, and a new Metro system in Warzone.

Developer Infinity Ward is adding two operators from the main story campaign, Farah and Nikolai, a fast-travel system in Warzone and, of course, a brand new battle pass and multiplayer modes.

PlayStation users had a pre-download patch available yesterday to alleviate a large update, but the download for PC users is clocking in at 57GB.

The update should have gone live at 7am BST, according to this tweet from Infinity Ward.

With the arrival of Season 6, Call of Duty is getting new game modes, bundles, trials, along with other tricks and treats planned for weeks to come in Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Meanwhile, Modern Warfare multiplayer is expected to receive new maps and missions.

Warzone

Subway Fast Travel System

The Metro will be open when Season 6 begins tomorrow, acting as a fast-travel between seven different train systems.

Stations will be opened up across the map of Verdansk and if you happen upon them you can head down through the turnstiles and catch a train.

In each subway station, players will be able to find item spawns all around the underground passageways to the platforms.

The trains will not travel to a station that falls outside the safe area during Battle Royale matches, nor move a single inch if there is any conflict aboard its cars.

Otherwise, fighting in and around the station is fair game, making these new and updated locales prime spots for ambushes.

Armoured Royale

This new mode for Warzone gives every squad an armoured Cargo Truck to travel around in.

It comes with a turret and plenty of armour plating too. Squad members can respawn if their truck is still in one piece, but once that squad’s vehicle disappears you won't be able to come back.

Weapon Rotation

New weapons will now be scattered around the map, found on the floor or in supply boxes.

A combination of familiar armaments and new blueprints can be found, which includes six Common, 10 Uncommon, 13 Rare, 18 Epic and 24 Legendary weapon variants.

Modern Warfare Multiplayer changes

If you own the full version of Modern Warfare, there is a new map for all the different multiplayer modes to choose from.

Station – Gunfight

The Station is being added to the 2v2 Gunfight mode, which is set in a picturesque rural Kastovia train station.

These gunfight maps are small, so you'll want to examine it properly for the most strategic course of action.

Broadcast – Core Modes (6v6)

Broadcast, a map introduced in CoD 4: Modern Warfare, is now in the game with the launch of Season 6.

This map originally from the 2007 game made a cameo in Warzone, but now it is its own stage to fight in through multiplayer modes.

There is one large atrium, a massive newsroom and some tight corridors to fight through, so this won't be an especially good map for long-range engagements.

Mialstor Tank Factory – Core Modes (6v6 and 10v10)

This map is designed with 6v6 and 10v10 game modes in mind.

There's plenty to explore in this map, which has a mix of indoor and outdoor combat zones.

Two large buildings will be the epicentre for most engagements – the tank factory itself and a large warehouse.

Other areas to explore include an abandoned workshop, skybridge, scrapyard, shipping area and residential zone. Depending on if you're in a 6v6 game, some parts of the map will be sectioned off to adjust for the smaller lobby.

Verdansk Riverside – Ground War

Verdansk Riverside is a suburb that lies across from the airport and it is the stage for a new large-scale Ground War map.

This area has a few two-story homes, some shacks and garages, a pharmacy, school, a public house chain restaurant, and a small construction project.

You'll be able to use vehicles to get around the large battleground as you make your way through the village and streets, as well as being able to post up on top of buildings.

It looks like there might also be some Halloween-themed events and cosmetics coming to Modern Warfare.

Season 6 download size

The download will be different depending on whether or not you just have Warzone or the full Modern Warfare game. These are the main download sizes for different consoles:

• PlayStation 4: 19.3GB

• Xbox One: 22.66GB

• PC: 57GB (Modern Warfare owners) and 25.5GB (Warzone only owners)

If you have the full version of Modern Warfare, you will have to download Compatibility Packs to access online multiplayer and Special Ops.
