Camila Mendes is the latest celeb to take the leap and become a redhead. The costar debuted the brand new look shortly after celebrating Halloween as Shego with fellow Riverdale star and now fellow redhead Madelaine Petsch who dressed as Kim Possible.

Mendes took to her Instagram account on November 10 to share the big news via a selfie dump. In the main photo, she wore a cozy sweater and trench coat while holding up a peace sign to show off her new hair color. She opted for a deep auburn shade that looks cherry red at first glance but reveals ginger undertones in the light, giving her the best of both worlds.

In the caption, Mendes wrote “just a newly minted redhead with a flight delay and an empty bathroom all to herself.” She tagged her hair colorist Matt Rez who has worked with a number of other celebrities as well including Kylie Jenner, Adele, Dua Lipa, BLACKPINK’s Lisa and more.

It seems like going red has been at the top of many people’s heads this past couple of years. Most recently, Bad Bunny teased curly bright ginger hair, which he sported for an upcoming acting role. Megan Thee Stallion also opted for a bright orange look that reminded us of some iconic ginger characters. Chloë Bailey went ginger and sported an equally trendy deep millennial side part for the Grammy Awards 2024 red carpet. Last year, Emily Ratajkowski joined the ginger team with a subtle look. Megan Fox, on the other hand, opted for a bright fire truck red bob after going for a ginger hue the year before. She’s not the only one who made the switch then. Kendall Jenner also opted for the cowboy copper trend, marking one of her biggest hair transformations throughout her career in addition to her new bright blonde look.

Now that Mendes is a redhead, we’re excited to see what new looks she serves up as the actor is known for her fun, daring style. In the meantime, we’ll be adding this to our hair inspo boards.
