We live in a world where Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may be able to corroborate some of porn star Stormy Daniels’ account of an alleged affair with President Donald Trump for which she was reportedly paid to keep quiet just weeks before the 2016 election.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Daniels $130,000 in October 2016 for a nondisclosure agreement regarding an alleged sexual encounter between the porn star and future president in 2006, four months after Trump’s wife Melania gave birth to their son Baron. The White House issued a denial, and Cohen also produced documentation signed by Daniels stating that she was not paid to keep quiet and that allegations of an affair were “completely false.”

One problem: Daniels reportedly described in great detail her alleged affair with Trump in a 2011 interview with In Touch magazine. What does all this have to do with Roethlisberger? We’ll get to that.

According to Daniels, she met Trump at a 2006 charity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, where he was playing and she was making an appearance on behalf of her porn company. She met him for dinner in his hotel room, he bragged about being on the cover of Forbes magazine and promised to get her on “The Apprentice,” the two had sex, she may or may not have spanked him with a copy of the magazine, and he asked her to sign a copy of one of her porn DVDs, thus beginning a yearlong relationship.

All caught up? Good.

The following day, Daniels said, she ran into Trump at a party. Take it from there, Stormy:

“It was in the downstairs of the hotel I was in and he was hanging out with Ben Roethlisberger. When I got there, he was already with him. He had Keith, his bodyguard, call me and ask me if I was coming. When I got there, I called Keith and he told me where he was sitting and he brought me over. And he was hanging out with Ben for a long time. A couple other people around, nobody famous. Mostly people trying to hang on to them. Ben had just won the Super Bowl that year. Donald excused himself. He had to leave, I don’t remember why, and he made Ben promise to take care of me. I stayed another 15-20 minutes and Ben Roethlisberger actually walked me up to my room that night because Donald told him to. Yeah, he walked me all the way to my hotel room.”

This was five months after Roethlisberger led the Steelers to victory in Super Bowl XL, one month after he broke his jaw in a June 2006 motorcycle accident and two years before he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in his hotel room at the very same charity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.

In other words, yes, Roethlisberger could potentially corroborate this portion of Daniels’ story, and, depending on what he may have discussed with the future president and the porn star, maybe more.

Strangely, Trump gave Roethlisberger’s golf game a shoutout at a Pennsylvania rally on the campaign trail in October 2016, right around the time Daniels reportedly signed the nondisclosure agreement.

What a world.
