OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada has awarded German defense contractor KNDS Deutschland a C$2 billion contract to maintain the Canadian fleet of Leopard 2 battle tanks, the federal procurement ministry said on Thursday.
The agreement is for an initial period of 6-1/2 years and includes four option periods that could extend the contract until March 2036, the ministry said in a statement. Canada operates 103 Leopard 2 tanks.
