Canada Goose shot with arrow rescued in Burlington

A Canada Goose had surgery on Monday to remove an arrow that pierced its body.

The animal was rescued in Burlington and brought into the Toronto Wildlife Centre on the weekend. Veterinarians say they are "cautiously optimistic" about the goose's recovery.

"Based on the condition of his wounds, our vets suspect that he had been living with the arrow for up to six weeks," said the Wildlife Centre.

The arrow went in through his right wing and out through the left side of his chest. By some miracle, it doesn't appear to have pierced any of his vital organs.

City of Burlington Animal Control and a concerned citizen spotted the injured goose in Paletta Lakefront Park, but it took two weeks to capture it.
