Canada more popular with Americans than Trump and Clinton combined: poll

With the U.S. presidential election rapidly approaching, it looks like a third option has emerged that if given the chance would sweep the polls come November.

A recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll found that American voters hold a 75 per cent positive view when it comes to Canada, with only three per cent holding a negative view.

To put that number into perspective, The Great White North has higher popularity rating than both the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates combined.

Amongst the 1,000 registered American voters polled from Sept. 16 to Sept. 19, Trump had a popularity rating of 28 per cent positive and 61 per cent negative. That’s only slightly worse than Hillary Clinton’s rating of 37 per cent positive and 52 per cent negative.

And the two presidential candidates are still behind the current commander-in-chief Barack Obama when it comes to popularity, who earned a rating of 51 per cent positive and 39 per cent negative.

Canada leads the pack in popularity in the survey overall, which asked voters for their opinion on a number of subjects including political figures, the news media and neighbouring countries.
