Canada's Mathias Guillemette took silver in the men's elimination race in the fourth round of the UCI Track Champions League in London, England on Friday.

The Trois-Rivières, Que., native outlasted 16 other competitors before ultimately falling to American Gavin Hoover.

Guillemette topped Hoover in the first round of the competition in Mallorca in November, and has yet to finish off of the podium in four rounds of the competition, with a gold, two silvers and a bronze.

Canada's Dylan Bibic — who placed 15th in the men's elimination event — secured bronze in the men's 5,000-metre scratch race.

The Mississauga, Ont., native finished behind gold-medal winner William Perrett of Great Britain as well as Moritz Malcharek of Germany.

The 19-year-old Bibic made history at the 2022 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in France when he became the first Canadian to win gold in the event.

Friday marked the first top-five finish for Canada in the men's scratch race after Guillemette finished sixth in both Mallorca and Berlin in the first two rounds of the UCI Track Champions League. Guillemette finished 14th on Friday.

Guillemette ranks third in the overall men's endurance standings, while Bibic has climbed into 11th.

Mitchell earns silver in women's keirin

Kelsey Mitchell of Sherwood Park, Alta., took home silver in the women's keirin final, finishing just behind Steffie Van der Peet of the Netherlands.

The 29-year-old has now won a gold, two silvers and a bronze in the event.

Mitchell fell just short of a berth in the finals of the women's sprint race earlier in the day after Olena Starikova of Ukraine edged out the 29-year-old in the semifinals.

Starikova would go on to win the event over Mathilde Gros of France, who leads the women's sprint standings after four rounds.

Mitchell is right behind Gros in second place entering the final day of competition, trailing by nine points.

Coles-Lyster takes bronze in women's elimination race

23-year-old Maggie Coles-Lyster raced to bronze in the women's elimination race, finishing behind American Jennifer Valente and Anita Stenberg of Norway.

The Maple Ridge, B.C., native has now finished third in the event in the last two rounds of competition.

In the women's scratch race, Van Dam — who will celebrate her 21st birthday on Sunday — finished fifth, while Coles-Lyster finished ninth.

Coles-Lyster now sits fourth in the women's endurance standings, five places ahead of Van Dam. Valente enters the final day on top.

The UCI Track Champions League wraps up on Saturday with the final leg of competition, also taking place at Lee Valley VeloPark in London.
