Canada's sledge hockey team announced for 2015-16 season

The 20-man roster for the Canadian national sledge hockey team has been set for the 2015-16 season, Hockey Canada announced.

The team, comprised of 12 forwards, six defenceman and two goaltenders, will take part in several international tournaments, highlighted by the 2016 world sledge hockey challenge from Jan. 17-23 in Bridgewater, N.S.

Canada's roster features 15 players who competed for the silver-medal team at the 2015 sledge hockey world championships in Buffalo, N.Y., and also includes five players making their national team debuts.

"Our objective is to put the best players on the ice to be able to win gold at all of the competitions this year. With all of the players attending the development camp last month, everyone came to camp ready to battle for a position, and we feel we have built the best team for the upcoming year," said head coach Ken Babey.

"These decisions are always hard to make, which is a great sign of the depth in our country."

The players with go through training camps in Toronto and Ottawa in the fall before Hockey Canada announces its roster for the Turin, Italy event in December.
