Canadian senior curling events in 2017 awarded to Fredericton

Fredericton has been awarded the 2017 Canadian senior men's and women's curling championships.

The events will be at the Willie O'Ree Place and the Capital Winter Club from March 18-25, 2017.

The event is for curlers who are 50 years of age or older.

"We look forward to welcoming the 28 teams from across the country that will be competing for the national championship," said host committee chair Wayne Tallon.

"Our track record hosting high-level events such as this one will ensure each athlete will have a memorable experience here in Fredericton."

In 2013, Fredericton hosted the 2013 World seniors and mixed doubles championships, which were also chaired by Tallon. The 2005 Canadian junior men's and women's championships were also staged in the city.

Tallon won the 2013 Canadian senior men's and 2014 world senior men's titles.
