Cantwell wins Washington Senate race
Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell is projected to win a fifth term representing Washington state in the Senate, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Cantwell, the chair of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, easily fended off a challenge from Republican Raul Garcia after holding a double-digit edge in the polls for months.
She first won her seat in 2000 when she ousted then-Sen. Slade Gorton (R) by a razor-thin margin, but both of the Evergreen State’s Senate seats have since been blue for decades.
Cantwell comfortably won reelection last cycle, and the state has gone to the Democratic presidential candidate every cycle since 1988.
