Capri Everitt sings finale at Toronto Blue Jay's game
Capri Everitt, 11, capped off her world tour of singing national anthems by belting out both the U.S. and Canadian anthems at the Toronto Blue Jay's game on Friday August 26, 2016 to the applause of thousands of baseball fans.
The Vancouver girl just spent nine months touring 80 countries and singing anthems in an effort to raise money for SOS Children's Villages.
She sang in 41 languages, but says she treasures the experience of singing to her own country.
"It was really something amazing to have sung my own anthem at the best crowd there is in Canada," said Everitt, whose heart-stopping renditions of both anthems inspired a Blue Jays victory over the Minnesota Twins 15-8.
Everitt toured the globe with her parents and nine-year-old brother.
To finance the sojourn her parents said they sold their cars, rented their home and even put their small business on pause to make the tween's dream happen.
"We know that the experience that we've had during these past nine months for our children and for our family, you can't measure it with money," said Everitt's mother Kerry.
The family plans to start work on a documentary and a book about the Capri's efforts to fight child poverty around the world.
For now, the 11-year-old will head back to school in Vancouver with enough fodder to write a mind-blowing essay about what she did this summer.
