Car attempting to pass another vehicle strikes and kills pedestrian near Okotoks

Throat slashing of teen girl in Okotoks didn't happen, RCMP says

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car that was trying to pass another vehicle near Okotoks, Alta.

The pedestrian, a 51-year-old man from the northern town of Manning, died at the scene on Wednesday at about 9:30 p.m, say Okotoks RCMP. Police are not releasing his name.

The man was walking along Big Rock Trail when he was hit by a westbound 1998 Toyota Corolla that was trying to pass another vehicle.

After the collision, the Corolla rolled and landed on its roof. The driver was taken by ambulance to hospital for minor injuries.

Police, who are investigating, say alcohol was not a factor.
