Car crashes into Olympia school with five dogs inside. Driver taken to hospital

A car crashed into Roosevelt Elementary School in Olympia on Sunday, and the doors had to be cut off to free the driver.

Inside the car were five dogs, which were all taken to Joint Animal Services while the driver was evaluated at the hospital. None of the dogs had significant injuries, OFD said.

Olympia Fire deputy chief Mark Schreck said the crash happened at 7:14 p.m. Sept. 22. It’s unclear why the driver struck the school, and there was no damage done to the building.

Schreck said the driver was extricated from the car and transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital with no major injuries.

The school was able to open and run on its normal schedule Monday.
