6 taken to hospital after car, minivan collide

Six people have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash, which left a car on its roof in Windsor's east end on Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred near Richmond Street and St. Luke Road, east of Walker Road. It involved a minivan and a car, the vehicle that flipped over.

Larry Cartier was reading a paper on his porch on nearby Albert Street when he heard the crash.

"As I was reading the paper, I heard a big screech ... and then there was a big bang," he told CBC News.

Cartier ran to the intersection where he then saw at least two people in distress and a number of people calling 911 on their cellphones.

"Everybody was in panic mode, nobody knew what they were doing," he said.

Windsor police told CBC News that four people from the car along with two people who were inside the minivan were taken to hospital.

The crash is under investigation by police.

The CBC's Joana Draghici reports that two fire trucks and four ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the crash.

Firefighters at the scene say that some of the people involved in the crash were semi-conscious when emergency responders arrived.
