The upcoming Boomtown Days has many activities for people of all ages, including a new, exciting event that is certain to draw plenty of interest.

Organizers have added a car show - which that will take place on Saturday, July 17th from 11 am – 5 pm at Memorial Park - to the annual celebration.

“My wife and I have an old car, a hot rod, that we’ve fixed up and we’ve traveled to many car shows for many years - that’s where we kind of have the experience and knowledge to put one together for Shaunavon," said Chamber of Commerce board member Cal Vance, who has tackled the job of organizing the event.

One of the highlights of the show will be a top fuel, two-wheel drive pulling truck entry, one of many vehicles expected to be featured in the show.

“We have five Best in Show prizes that we will be handing out, and we also have a long distance prize for whoever travels the farthest to get here,” said Vance.

Anyone can enter the show.

The event will serve as a great opportunity for someone to show off a car or the work they have done on a vehicle.

It will be a silver coin donation to enter a car in the show, with lots of prizes up for grabs.

Check the Boomtown Days Facebook page to enter the show or to get more details on the event.

Vance hopes to attract a number of entries for the show and thinks visitors will enjoy checking out the hot rods and antique cars.

"It should be a lot of fun," stated Vance. "Hopefully, we get a lot of entries and have quite a few people show up to check out the vehicles."

"And the park should be a great place to host an event like this," he added.

Boomtown days will run from July 16-18 and will feature a bunch of events.
