Car takes out porch of Parkdale home

A car slammed into a house on Sorauren Avenue in the city's west end early Wednesday, causing the house's porch to collapse and severing the gas line.

Police say the collision happened at 1:25 a.m. when a Ford Escape SUV, travelling southbound on Sorauren north of Queen Street West, left the roadway and crashed into a house.

Toronto police Const. Clint Stibbe told CBC it appears the driver suffered "a medical condition" prior to the crash.

The driver and a second person in the SUV were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

A section of Sorauren between Marion Street and Queen Street West was closed while crews worked to repair the gas line this morning. The road closure is expected to end before 9 a.m.
